About the Job
The Financial Analyst will support the Merchandising organization analysis of financial results through variance analysis to budget / forecast, and annual Budget, Bi-Monthly Forecasts, and ad hoc research and reporting for the CFO, leadership in Merchandising and/or Planning.
- Regularly interact with Merchandising to provide financial support, verification of results and reporting around Sales and Gross Profit.
- Analyzes trends and other relevant information to develop operating assumptions necessary to complete Business Plans, Budgets, and Bi-Monthly Forecasts.
- Gain a thorough understanding of key business drivers and effective communication of analysis.
- Address or escalate Merchandising inquiries as a primary financial liaison to ensure timely, appropriate action/resolution and/or effective interpretation of the financial implications of business activities.
- Participate in department initiatives to build/implement new tools for forecasting and budgeting.
- Work with numerous functional departments to build inputs into the forecasts/budgets.
Qualifications
- Bachelors/4year Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
- 2+ years of experience with financial modeling and reporting.
- 1-2 years of experience supporting a sales organization.
- Requires advanced computer skills using spreadsheet software, familiarity with database applications, downloading data from mainframe systems and use of word processing software.
- Requires ability to draft correspondence that accompanies requests for information in a clear and concise manner.
- Requires understanding of mathematical concepts necessary to make growth projections and net present value calculations.
- Must understand impact/use of multi-spreadsheet linking capabilities and must have ability to quickly learn systems for implementation/development.
- Analysis skills and the ability to solve problems independently is critical.
