Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review and distribute the firm’s monthly financial reporting package. Reporting includes key performance metrics and relevant variance analysis to budget, forecast and prior year activity.
- Prepare, review and distribute the monthly financial reporting to various managers. Reporting is tailored to the specific focus of the manager.
- Assist with preparation of year-end reports for bonus consideration.
- Participate in the continued development of the revenue and profitability databases for reporting purposes and the corresponding attorney dashboards. Develop new reports with the data and train end users. Train attorneys and management on use of the dashboards.
- Participate in the review of various financial reports, identifying issues where information is inconsistent and troubleshoot for root cause to ensure accuracy of financial information.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses with recommendations for solutions.
- Assist with the preparation of the periodic financial presentations.
- Develop new alerts utilizing Alert Manager software to assist with notification of events.
- Assist with preparation of various surveys utilized in the legal industry.
- Participate in system upgrades by testing and verifying financial information.
- Assist with other administrative tasks and special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and five or more years of related experience working within a law firm is required.
- Computer proficient with knowledge and understanding of Accounting systems (Aderant or Elite), Excel, Outlook and Word. Experience and understanding of Big Hand/Iridium or other similar reporting software.
- Ability to identify and analyze complex accounting/financial issues and to recommend and implement solutions. Exhibit initiative and critical-thinking skills in exercising independent judgment and making decisions.
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate detailed information in report format, written correspondence, e mail, or verbally. Maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff and outside contacts. Must maintain confidentiality of data.
- Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment.
