About the Job
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage the partnership accounting process including the daily banking activity, the month end accounting closing process, the period end partnership financial statement analysis (rollforward) and assist with the year end audit process. This would include the development of a quarterly project / task calendar to be utilized by all appropriate finance department staff members and communicating these deadlines to the investment department and the general partners as appropriate.
- Manage the annual finance department partnership Federal Schedule K-1 project. This will include communicating with all appropriate general partners to obtain the availability date for all required returns; developing a Finance Department data input calendar and communicating with the general partners to resolve any exceptions noted during the finance department review / data input.
- Assess new technologies and software for appropriateness and assist with system installation and / or upgrades, including scheduling resources, beta testing and version control.
- Assist in the development of the financial statement and tax reporting, enhancing the current report templates.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam within a reasonable period of time; five to six years of finance related experience ideal, public accounting experience preferred with exposure to preparing or reviewing audited financial statements.
- Experience in implementing accounting software packages and interfaces; Experience in report writing and building queries.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment and assume responsibility for decisions which have an impact on people and quality of service.
- Effectively plan and prepare for scheduled activities for the investment accounting function; able to simultaneously juggle several tasks or responsibilities efficiently despite challenging resource and time constraints.
- Ability to assemble information from diverse sources, assess the situation and develop a logical solution.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Nonprofit industry experience is preferred.
