Financial Analyst
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst. Providing key financial analysis support to the Non-KWH sales teams. This position plays an integral role in ensuring financial accountability by delivering insightful analysis, developing financial projections, and managing key financial metrics. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently, and skilled in prioritizing and coordinating multiple processes. You will be responsible for managing monthly analysis, year-end projections, and working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to support financial plans, strategic financing assumptions, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide monthly financial analysis, including tracking and reporting on key metrics, projections, and year-end forecasts to ensure financial accountability.
- Develop and maintain financial models and projections to support team objectives and strategic initiatives.
- Analyze accounting issues, reconcile accounts, and research discrepancies.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Execute, test, and document internal controls to ensure their effectiveness.
- Ensure the timely preparation and delivery of monthly reports, projections, and financial analyses to management.
- Assist in the preparation and communication of financial plans, budgets, and projections to leadership.
- Provide support to the Non-KWH sales teams by offering strategic and tactical financial assumptions.
- Effectively communicate financial results and insights to management and cross-functional teams.
- Manage multiple projects and assignments, meeting deadlines while adapting to changing business needs.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, financial modeling, and budgeting. 7+ years of experience is preferred.
- Skills and Expertise:
- Thorough understanding of accounting practices, particularly accruals and financial income statements.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to problem-solve.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial data clearly to non-financial audiences.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Experience with Southern Company financial applications (PowerPlan, CSS, Oracle, etc.) is a plus.
- Familiarity with utility accounting practices is preferred.
- Proven ability to interact with databases and create ad-hoc reports.
