Finance Specialist - Revenue - LANTA Transportation

About the Job
RESPONSIBILITIES: The staff position is responsible for daily revenue reconciliation, recording of all payments, accounts receivable and non-A/R related, and accurate accounting of revenue for federal, state, local, and private funding sources in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for the completion of trip data reconciliation and the booking of all accounts receivable for all funding sources and revenue service agreements. This position will report to the Controller.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Provides daily reconciliation of revenue collections for Carbon and LANtaVan Paratransit divisions.
- Reconciliation of deferred revenue accounts for Carbon and LANtaVan.
- Provides daily reconciliation of fixed route revenue.
- Reconciliation of trip data for end-of-month accounts receivable processing.
- Review and record financial data onto applicable audit work papers.
- Records and reconciles accounts receivable payments and miscellaneous payments from outside agencies and vending commissions.
- Coordinates collections for low and negative balance accounts.
- Communicate with internal and external clients.
- Respond to client phone inquiries and investigate irregularities with client prepaid accounts.
- Records and maintains adequate records of all transactions. Processes a variety of documentation.
- Performs data entry functions by keying data into various computer systems.
- Prepares and compiles necessary correspondence pertaining to any sales tax refunds owed to LANta.
- Maintains inventory of tickets/passes, records inventory counts, and reports missing tickets/passes.
- Daily reconciliation of cash receipts. Prepares adequate documentation for daily work.
- Collection of delinquent A/R by phone, email, etc.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with departmental operations.
- Research erroneous A/R payments and other discrepancies.
- Prepares and compiles monthly reconciliation of Customer/Organization escrow (Ecopay) information.
Handle client issues (CRMs) - Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE HELPFUL FOR POSITION:
- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting practices.
- Skill in performing Basic Mathematical Calculations.
- Skill in the use of office equipment such as a calculator, computer, scanner, etc.
- Skill in dealing with the public.

COMPLEXITY: The work consists of related bookkeeping and clerical duties.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to collect revenue for the Authority. Successful performance helps ensure that the Authority properly collects revenue.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other LANTA employees and departments, clients, third-party agencies, and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table, with intermittent standing, walking, and stooping. The work may require the employee to be able to lift and/or carry twenty-five pounds of weight.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: None.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum requirement of a High School diploma with a major course in business/accounting. Prefer advanced degree in business, accounting, or related field.
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and timelines.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Excellent analytical and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) are essential.
- Intermediate to advanced skills using database applications including MS Excel.
- Must be able to demonstrate analytical reasoning, and critical thinking as well as a high level of customer orientation.
- Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Must be self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
- Must be able to work some after-hours and weekends as needed.
- Demonstrate skills in accounting, personal computer usage, typing, and the use of office machines.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with other LANTA employees, departments with LANTA, and the public.
