Are you looking for a fantastic career at Essential Utilities? We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance & Rates Analyst to join our Finance team in Bryn Mawr, PA! We are looking for an accountant that supports the development and integration of the total Company business planning process, attraction of capital and business development into the regulatory rate filing process. Specifically, but not limited to, preparing and litigating the Company’s’ rate case filings, DSIC filings and applicable tariffs on a multi-state basis. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after a 90-day training period.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist in the preparation of rate cases providing general accounting assistance, analysis and forecasting of the need for and the timing of rate increases.
- Participate in the planning/budgeting processes to ensure timely recognition of investments.
- Compile and aggregate budget and business planning information.
- Provide support for the preparation of financial due diligence, including pro-forma income statements, for water and wastewater acquisitions in various jurisdictions. Handles PUC filings and data request/other correspondence with applicable utility commission.
- Prepare answers to interrogatories.
- Provide support for witness litigation process.
- Interface with other departments to determine future rate case adjustments.
- Prepare special reports as needed.
- Prepare relevant documents requested by or required by the Commission.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 2-5 years of relevant experience required
- Utilities experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have excellent computer skills including a high level of proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, with PowerPoint skills being required.
- Must possess exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; communicate effectively (clearly, concisely, and professionally) with internal and external customers.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and all company officials, as well as the ability to motivate and influence others with diplomacy and tact in a fast-paced, diverse environment.
- Must be proactive with the ability to work independently under minimal direction.
