About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Human Resources Specialist with a background in skill trades, particularly in construction and telecommunications. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the unique challenges and requirements within these industries, coupled with HR expertise to support and enhance our workforce.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:
Collaborate with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and develop recruitment strategies.
Source, screen, and interview candidates for skill trade positions, including but not limited to construction workers, technicians, and specialized tradespeople.
Utilize industry-specific networks and resources to attract top talent.
Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
Employee Relations:
Act as a liaison between management and employees, addressing any concerns or grievances that may arise.
Implement and enforce HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.
Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors and employees on HR-related matters.
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment through proactive employee engagement initiatives.
Training and Development:
Identify skill gaps within the workforce and coordinate training programs to address them.
Facilitate technical training sessions for employees in skill trade roles, including safety protocols, equipment operation, and industry-specific certifications.
Monitor employee progress and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits:
Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitive offerings that attract and retain talent.
Conduct salary surveys and benchmarking to maintain market competitiveness.
Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
Safety and Compliance:
Collaborate with safety officers and management to promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements relevant to skill trade industries.
Investigate and report on-the-job accidents or incidents, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
SHRM certification preferred.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on skill trades, construction, or telecommunications.
Strong understanding of industry-specific regulations, practices, and terminology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
