Minimum Salary: $105,822 per year
Salary commensurate based on education and experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation desired.
*Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
*Experience in public school finance or a government agency highly desirable.
*Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired.
*Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
*Knowledge of school district accounting systems (e.g., fund accounting, state reporting).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Responsible for directing the accounting practices and policies of the district to ensure that all financial records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, Board of Education policies and federal, state and local laws or regulations.
*Responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of control systems in order to safeguard district assets.
*Responsible for the preparation of all financial statements, reporting and projection of balances and other necessary reports for submission to management, Board of Education and other regulatory and advisory agencies.
*Prepare and submit, in an accurate, complete and timely manner, all reports for the Colorado Department of Education.
*Responsible for the district’s cash management functions, including control of investment securities and cash flow analyses of all funds.
*Responsible for timely and accurate completion of the District’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board, monthly financial reporting, fixed asset accounting and other reports as necessary. Primary liaison with independent and governmental auditors.
*Ability to direct and evaluate the work and performance of others; ability to work accurately, independently, and in an organized manner. Must have the ability to set and monitor priorities to meet many deadlines.
*Responsible for Board of Education policies pertaining to accounting and internal controls are implemented and enforced. Responsible for recommending and implementing changes as appropriate.
*Participates, as determined by the Chief Financial Officer, as a representative on district and out-of-district committees.
*Directs human resource activities for payroll, accounting and accounts payable staff; hire, direct, mentor, discipline, terminate; accordingly ensure professional development and conduct evaluations. Responsible for review, approval and verification of reported time in district time clock system.
*Review, develop and modify accounting methods to improve existing procedures; identify and implement new opportunities for automated accounting systems; ensure conformity to sound accounting practices and District policies and procedures.
*Manages the District’s banking relationship and services.
*Promotes a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the department.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
