Finance Director - Felician Sisters of North America

About the Job
We are partnering with the Daughters of the Holy Spirit to hire a part-time Finance Director at the Putnam, CT location. This position will work approximately 24-30 hours per week and offers a hybrid/remote schedule (mainly onsite with the option to work partially remotely).
Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for day-to-day operations in the Finance office
- Participation in financial activities, i.e., accounts payable & receivable for all fund accounts; monthly bank statement reconciliations; receive and review monthly community accounts and book them into the computer,
- Produce monthly financial statements for all province funds, and perform quarterly reviews of these statements. Prepare annual budgets for province funds
- Oversee participation of Sisters in programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
- Management of cars: participate in repair decisions and records, registrations, etc.; consult with canonical Treasurer regarding decisions for purchase of new vehicles; manage insurance issues re. cars
- Payroll management, including all aspects of payroll (salary checks, taxes withdrawn and paid appropriately, IRS and other PR reports as required); overseeing any Workers' Comp issues; being part of the hiring process as appropriate
- Investment management - receive & book monthly investment statements; communicate regularly with investment managers; review portfolios on a regular (quarterly) basis
- Prepare for and collaborate with a professional firm to complete an annual Review of province operational statements
- Oversee province compliance with state and federal laws
- Participate in RCRI and other appropriate finance organizations
- Coordinates work of other volunteers/staff in the office
- As appropriate, share financial education in the following ways:
- Meet regularly with the Provincial Team for ongoing financial reports and work with current financial matters
- Prepare annual financial report to the province
- Participate in financial sharing and meetings within the larger congregation
- NRRO annual report
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or Associate's Degree in Accounting, preferably with 5 or more years of experience
- Requires bookkeeping/Accounting credentials and experience with accounting software;
- Experience with SAGE accounting software is helpful
- Experience with not-for-profit organizations and some understanding of Catholic Religious Institutes
- Openness to becoming part of the mission at Daughters of the Holy Spirit, helping to situate financial realities and decisions within that Mission.
- Highly collaborative skills and experiences as this position will work closely with the Province Administrative Team and the Sisters who come to the office with financial issues, questions, etc.
