Position Overview
Be a part of a nonprofit organization committed to empowering Christians to lead their families, businesses, and communities through innovative formation programs and ministries. As the Finance Director, you will oversee financial operations for the organization and optimize financial and document management within the Business Office.
Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to financial and accounting schedules and procedures
- Enforce financial procedures and oversee their implementation within the organization
- Assist in the preparation of 990 forms, manage payroll, and compile necessary financial reports
- Handle processing of contracts, rental agreements, and vendor contracts
- Maintain compliance with cybersecurity guidelines and financial policies
- Keep financial policies and procedures current
- Optimize the utilization of licenses, vendor accounts, and benefits
- Supervise the daily activities of the Donor Relations Manager
- Prepare and deliver clear and concise reports to the Board of Directors
- Proactively address financial and operational inefficiencies with the Chief of Staff
- Provide guidance and supervision to the bookkeeper and accounting staff, aligning with quarterly objectives and performance metrics
- Ensure the security and cybersecurity of the Business Office, including password storage and account management
- Assist in the onboarding process for new employees
- Regularly prepare financial documents and oversee finance and accounting staff in preparing reports and budgets
- Monitor financial reports to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain awareness of the organization's financial status to fulfill legal obligations and uphold its standing
- Provide recommendations on investment decisions and support the investment committee
- Analyze trends to mitigate financial risks associated with investments or expenditures
- Develop comprehensive budgets for the organization, considering the long-term needs of each department
- Offer informed advice to the President on spending and budgetary matters
- Participate actively in team meetings, annual events, and special gatherings
- Flexibility for occasional evening meetings and weekend work as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in economics, business administration, accounting or finance
- 5+ years of experience in finance management, with a strong understanding of financial policies and procedures
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in financial and accounting roles
- Proficiency in budget preparation and monthly monitoring
- Experience serving as a liaison between clients and vendors
- Advanced skills in Excel and QuickBooks
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices, including cost allocations
- Demonstrated comprehension of fiscal policies and investment regulations
- Proven track record of project management in both on-site and virtual environments
- Effective and timely communication and collaboration across all levels of leadership and staff
- Ability to present and interpret financial information for diverse audiences
- Promote a positive work culture through professionalism and teamwork
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Teams
- Adherence to moral principles in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Experience with KEAP and Kindful software platforms, preferred
- Previous involvement in volunteer management and non-profit accounting, preferred
- Project management experience , preferred
- Experience with donors and benefactors, preferred
Compensation
- Salary: $85,000 - $115,000
