Job Title: Finance Controller
Location: Marina Del Rey, CA
We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take responsibility for the financial management of PTW America Inc. We operate a number of stand-alone lines of business across the USA which prepare independent management accounts and we want to appoint someone to take overall responsibility for financial management, corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Financial Controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management.
Key tasks:
- Manage the consolidation of all sites management information, including balance sheet preparation and reconciliation
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the consolidated budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Oversee month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Additional controller duties as necessary
Requirements
Skills Required:
Financial Management:
- Hands-on experience in end-to-end accounting activities, balance sheet and other reconciliations and monthly and annual accounts closures.
- Knowledge of the local accounting rules (US GAAP), regulations, and taxes in USA is a must.
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP).
- Participate in the development of internal financial and accounting policies and procedures. Implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures laid out.
- Manage reporting of consolidated financial statements for PTW Americas Inc to Group and parent company
- Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization (Income Tax, etc.), are met and that financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation
- Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit/group audit and liaise with the external auditors as necessary
- Have regular meetings with the VP Finance and improve the processes, turnaround time etc.
- Good Communicator, “Make It Happen” attitude, and should be ready to work under pressure and long hours based on the business requirements
People Management and Development
- To interface with local finance staff in each site. These staff will not report directly to the Financial Controller but will provide the key inputs so experience of influencing staff is essential.
- Have a good working relationship with the wider finance team and other departments
- Communicate effectively with the team on a regular basis ensuring information is clear, accurate, and timely.
- Encouraging team participation in the way information is relayed to and from the departments.
MIS and Reporting:
- Maintain financial records for the US business in a manner that facilitates timely and accurate Management reports
- Assist FP&A teams with the preparation of budgets by providing relevant information on a regular basis
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of the overall company
Proficiency in the use of computer programs for:
- Accounting ERP, particularly Microsoft D365, will be a significant advantage
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) in general and Excel in particular
Experience:
- Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
- Minimum of 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
Educational Qualification: Minimum Bachelor’s degree, ideally Master’s degree, in a relevant field such as Commerce, Finance or Business Administration
Professional Qualification: USCAP/Chartered Accountant/ CMA / ICWA (not mandatory, but preferred)
