GUGCS Finance Associate (LIC and Jamaica)

For over 15 years, Growing Up Green has empowered children to be successful, thoughtful members of their city through a strong community, rigorous curriculum, and an engaging school culture. Growing Up Green currently serves over 1200 students, with 300+ employees working across four campuses.
General Responsibilities:
- Manage A/P functions.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Record and track income expenses related to all contracts and grants, including federal entitlements.
- Assist with payroll processing.
- Process invoices, issue checks, and prepare for signatures/disbursement (mostly using Bill.com).
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports.
- Collect staff timesheets and investigate discrepancies.
- Enter payroll into QuickBooks in a timely manner.
- Use accrual accounting for entries including correct dates and descriptions.
- Code expenses using existing COA and most recent budget.
- Research required document discrepancies with clients and/or vendors.
- Assist in the preparation of audit schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws.
Complete month-close tasks. - Assist with Year-end close
- Maintain vendor files including required W-9s
- Review and analyze leases, contracts, and other transactions to ensure proper recording.
- Process, post, and review all cash receipts, cash disbursements, revenues, and expenses in the accounting system in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare and deliver bank deposits, including cash receipts and posting transactions into QuickBooks
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree
- 2-3 years of accounting /finance preferred.
- Experience in a non-profit organization is preferred.
- Some knowledge of QuickBooks or a similar accounting program.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and evolve
- Detail Oriented.
- Self-reflective and open to feedback
- Maintains professionalism through excellent organizational skills, timeliness, regular communication, and meeting deadlines.
- Microsoft office suite experience.
- Salary range is $55,000 - $65,000
Education
Associate’s Degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred
