Job Details
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, measure performance, and support strategic decision-making
- Build and maintain financial models and forecasts
- Collaborate with senior management to interpret financial data and provide insights for informed business decisions
Internal Controls & Accounting Processes:
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls over financial processes
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and other accounting standards
- Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
Management Reporting & Budgeting:
- Work with department heads to develop and maintain operating budgets
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis
- Prepare management reports to track key financial metrics and KPIs
- Support senior management with decision-making through insightful reporting and analysis
Compliance & Audit:
- Manage external audits and ensure timely responses to auditor inquiries
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting
- Stay abreast of relevant accounting regulations and industry best practices
Technology & Systems:
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Billing.com. Shopify)
- Identify and evaluate new technologies to improve financial operations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with IT and other departments
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships with lenders and investors
- Oversee the preparation of tax returns (may partner with external tax professional)
- Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and senior management team
- Participate in cross-functional projects as needed
Qualifications:
- CPA certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
- 5+ years of experience in a controller or senior accounting role
- Experience working with Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies and e-commerce is required.
- Proven track record of success in leading and managing financial teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Familiarity with GAAP and other accounting standards preferred
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting a plus
- Knowledge of inventory management software a plus
