Position Description
Install and support Edge's standard customer premise data & communications network systems for businesses throughout the US.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install customer network equipment (e.g., switches, firewalls, phones, UPSs, gateways, servers, Cat5e & Cat6 patch cabling, and etc.)
- Perform onsite troubleshooting and testing (under guidance and supervision of remote engineers) via Navitek, Fluke, NetTool etc.
- Conduct customer site surveys
Other Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and project management clearly and concisely regarding technical issues
- Maintain accurate records of work performed & thoroughly inventory equipment
- Oversee and coordinate with third-party vendors
Experience and Education:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications, networking, or related field

Required Experience
- Based in our Plano, TX office but must have the ability to travel nationwide (including Hawaii) approximately 70% of the time; generally three 3-4 day trips per month, and approximately one 10-day trip per quarter
- Basic knowledge of data and voice communications networking
- Understanding of cable patching processes and procedures
- Ability to perform rack and stack activities
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs, capable of working aloft
- Ability to work weekends and overtime when needed
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong written, verbal, and relationship skills
- Strong work ethic, excellent attendance and flexibility to work overtime
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized
- Ability to work inside and outside environments
- Valid driver's license and the ability to drive long distances when needed
- The ability to read and create diagrams, understand as-built documents and architectural drawings, interpret layouts and develop scope of work documents.
- Have a working knowledge of fiber optic and copper cable installation and termination standards
