What we are looking for:
As an (entry-level) Field Technician I at SCS Engineers, you will gain basic knowledge of the terminology, processes, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M) of various environmental control systems, while gaining basic knowledge of health and safety requirements. Your tasks will be straightforward, providing a solid foundation for your career growth. You will report to a senior-level supervisor, such as a Project Superintendent or a Project Manager. We are looking for a Field Technician to service the Bedford, TX area.
How you can make an impact:- Learns and becomes proficient in understanding of and compliance with SCS policies and procedures, with a primary focus on:
- The SCS Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) as it pertains to the SCS Health & Safety program.
- The SCS Quality Management System as it pertains to the quality of our work; and,
- The SCS Standards of Business Conduct and Ethics as they pertain to our behavior as employee owners at SCS.
- Focus is on gaining the fundamentals to understand the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of various environmental systems.
- Work with senior staff in the planning and execution of assigned tasks, including daily Crew Activity Plans (CAP), monitoring, and/or adjustment of various environmental control system components.
- At the direction of senior staff, performs basic maintenance and repairs of various environmental control system components.
- Become familiar with the concepts of conducting field observations/actions and report those observations/actions by way of field notes and daily logs, which will be used by others to prepare verbal and written client communications.
- Through training, has gained basic knowledge to utilize field instruments to measure required environmental control system data, including calibration and proper care and handling of field instruments.
- Is required to participate in preliminary review of collected data with supervisor to gain an understanding of the basic fundamentals required to interpret field data.
- Work with senior staff to make operational adjustments to environmental control system components in conjunction with the results of preliminary data reviews.
- Receive training to utilize the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials to maintain and repair environmental control system components.
- Assists Laborers, Field Technician II, Senior Field Technicians, or other staff with removal of landfill liquids pumps.
- No experience is required; however, it is preferred that you have experience in one of the following fields: mechanical, construction, environmental, or solid waste.
- Expected to possess or be willing to complete a 40-Hour HAZWOPER Course, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 preferred (training will be provided if not current).
- Basic knowledge in the use of various computer/technology skills including Smartphones, Tablets, and Microsoft Office Programs (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
- A valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing is required.
- Must meet physical requirements and pass a human performance evaluation (HPE).
- Physical requirements include driving (pick-up truck), walking inspection of improved and unimproved property, lifting, and carrying equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), hand excavation/digging (using shovels/picks), carrying, and climbing ladders, operating manlifts and working from man lifts, operating electric tools (drills, saws, etc.), using hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.) and providing services under varying weather conditions.
