Catalyx is seeking energetic and motivated applicants that are interested in joining a fast-paced industrial automation services & delivery team. The Field Systems Technician | Automated Logistics Solutions will be part of dedicated teams responsible for pre-assembly and installation of cutting-edge image-based barcode reading & package tracking electro/mechanical systems at many of the largest e-commerce fulfillment and distribution facilities around the country.
Job Details:
The Field Systems Technician | Automated Logistics Solutions is expected to use their mechanically and/or electrically inclined background and experience to build and install mechatronic equipment assemblies in an efficient and timely fashion. Most assemblies are built with extruded aluminum or modular material design (e.g., Robotunits, 80/20, Unistrut, etc.) framing & support material and contain multiple cutting-edge vision/reader systems which require electro/mechanical wiring, connection & installation.
The technician will spend roughly 25% of their time with their team performing system framing, component pre-assembly, staging & pre-deployment testing at Catalyx build & test facility and 75% of their time performing final system installation, configuration, and testing at the various customer distribution/fulfillment facilities around North America.
Basic training will be provided, but a willingness and capability to apply the training principles will be critical to the candidate’s success in this role. The Systems Delivery Technician is an integral member of the delivery group and a successful team member may rise through the delivery team by gaining greater levels of equipment staging and pre-assembly responsibility, up to and including, performing full system electromechanical pre-deployment testing. The progression, of which, will be a role with responsibility to travel with the team to support the full system set-up, installation, testing and system acceptance at customer sites. Accomplished Systems Delivery Technicians may also progress into roles within the Systems Delivery Engineering and Project Engineering groups.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities:
-Perform semi-complex work within technical or paraprofessional area.
-Review & interpret assembly instructions/drawings and follow team lead instructions to safely and successfully complete assigned mechanical assembly and electromechanical component installation tasks.
-Use electrical test equipment to troubleshoot electrical circuitry.
-Identify problems as they occur and take appropriate steps to solve them.
-Follow all applicable company and customer processes and procedures.
-Assist in material inventory management of equipment sub-assemblies and other components.
-Assist in performing quality checks on received inventory of equipment, components and parts as needed.
-Assist in preparing finished equipment assemblies and components for shipment.
-Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment and production area.
-Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.
-Travel with teams to customer facility to perform final system installation and testing during project deployment phases.
-Assist and collaborate with team to identify, communicate, adapt, and overcome unforeseen issues which may arise during the various phases of the equipment pre-assembly & deployment at customer facility.
-Ensure that the end-product meets company standards.
-Assist in the creation of basic installation & assembly instructions.
-Provide accurate weekly time reports to project team lead.
Basic Qualifications:
-High school diploma with demonstrated professional experience and/or Trade education and professional training/certifications will be considered. Associate degree in engineering or Applied Science related fields is preferred.
-Must be familiar with industrial equipment/machine motion; including but not limited to motors, gear drives, timing belts & chain drivers, linear and rotary actuators etc.
-Ability to read/understand complex assembly documentation. Working knowledge of electronics, including the ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics preferred.
-Capable of performing on-site semi-complex electro-mechanical assembly, power/network component wiring and connections, routine system configurations, and support commissioning functions of customer solutions.
-High energy, self-motivated individual that can meet strict deadlines, and is results oriented.
-Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills are required; takes a logical, analytical approach to problem-solving.
-Ability to be customer facing, at times, while maintaining professional communications through in-person conversations with onsite customer leadership, Catalyx leadership, and team members
-Must be able to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required according to Catalyx procedures.
-Enjoys getting hands dirty and being involved in building, testing, and du-bugging tools throughout the delivery cycle.
-Must be mechanically inclined with demonstrated proficiency in mechanical assembly and have outstanding manual dexterity.
-Must have knowledge in the use of personal computers for word processing, database functions and communications. Working experience with Windows OS, IP, and Networking preferred.
-Must be willing to travel within the continental US on short notice and, at times, spend more than 75% of the time traveling. May be continuously away from home for as long as a month.
-Must be willing to be available to work during off hours, weekends, holidays, and off shifts as required to meet project requirements.
-Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces.
-Able to lift and move material up to 50 pounds each.
-Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
-Able to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation.
-Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
