Position Summary:
As a Service Technician you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair and inspections of conveyors, hoists, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Mechanical:
- Primarily perform Electrical and Mechanical maintenance on automated packaging and distribution equipment.
- Will work on package sort system software to include Dematic, Intelligrated, and Hytrol package sort systems.
Mechanical:
- Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
- Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.
- Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
- Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system.
- Realigns and adjusts components such as spindles and clutches.
- Sets up and operates metal working tools such as lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make or repair part
- Must have a mechanical aptitude along with basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Knowledge and ability to properly utilize a variety of hand and power tools.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations both within the company premises as well as on customer’s jobsites, including client specific on-site training.
- Utilize sound decision making and problem-solving practices.
- Has experience with rigging and lifting equipment with cranes, forklifts, telehandler, etc.
Electrical:
- Troubleshoot 480,230,208 three phase systems as well as 208 and 120v single phase.
- Must be skilled with various ac/dc low voltages for controls. These include squirrel cage, and wound rotor types.
- Read schematics and troubleshoot VFD’S, contactors, fuses, and circuit boards.
- Strong understanding of capacitors, contactors, relays, plc's and vfd troubleshooting and programming.
- Proficiency with motor brake solenoids and coils ac and dc with rectifiers.
- Adept with photo eyes, lasers and transformers.
- Computer skills and competency for interfaces and diagnostics.
- Skilled with multi meter.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma/(GED)
- 3 years of related mechanical and electrical experience with some troubleshooting experience
- Relevant knowledge of warehousing/distribution, pallet rack design, material handling equipment etc., is a plus!
Qualifications:
- Perform the installation process abiding by all OSHA, DOT, and site-specific safety precautions.
- Ability to work on-call rotations.
- Willingness to travel if necessary and work occasional overtime hours.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license with a good driving record.
- Must have U.S. Work Authorization.
- Must be able to pass background checks and ongoing random drug screenings.
