POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Service and Start-up Technician shall be responsible for the start-up, installation supervision, training, maintenance and field troubleshooting and repair of air handling systems provided by the Company in any of the three operating divisions: Johnson, Marcraft and Arizon Structures.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
- Provide installation supervision to contractors or owners relative to unit re-assembly and/or installation.
- Provide or supervise unit start-up.
- Provide customer or third-party service provider training relative to unit maintenance procedures
- Perform routing/scheduled unit maintenance.
- Provide other maintenance, service or troubleshooting services as required.
- Provide phone support to diagnose customers or third-party service provides diagnosis and repair of our equipment.
- Coordination of travel/site-visits with Customer Service Organization to optimize travel to near-by sites.
- Assist Customer Service Manager in the estimation, contract/scope development and billing of services.
- Generate and file field service reports on a timely basis.
- Plan and conduct trips in accordance with corporate travel policy.
- Ability to travel as a primary element of the position.
- Actively utilize company software & IT infrastructure to maintain project documentation and facilitate coordination with other company functions.
- Other duties assigned by management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 2 Year Degree in HVAC Technology, Manufacturer Sponsored Training (e.g Trane, YORK, Carrier, McQuay) on like equipment, or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years' experience in Field Service and Start-up Technician role
- HVAC experience with operational knowledge of fans, coils, refrigeration, piping, sensors, and controls
- Electrical knowledge and understanding of NEC requirements for installation
- Working knowledge of controls operation platforms and BAS
- Experience in Power Flame gas burner control and tuning. Knowledge of National Fuel Gas Code
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to travel overnight on a routine basis.
- MS Office Applications: WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK
- Must have valid driver's license and passport.
- Ability to independently generate, read and interpret equipment test reports.
- Ability to operate lifts, safety and fall protection equipment
- Ability to lift, handle and operate equipment, as required.
- OSHA 10 training or greater
- Ability to climb ladders, stand for long periods of time and work in confined spaces.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with company and customer engineers and service personnel.
- Desire to improve/upgrade capabilities as well as learn new skills that will advance productivity and efficiency.
- Ability to work independently, effectively manage time and organize activities effectively.
