Electrical Service Technician Job Description:
We’re looking for someone who is a strong communicator and is willing to travel to customer and subcontractor sites. Most of our equipment is large and thus requires work to be done outside. The equipment is installed on top of tall buildings and other structures. The individual will be required to work at heights from time to time. The candidate must also possess an aptitude and willingness to work with their hands. Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical power and control systems as well as PLC ladder logic. The company’s equipment includes a broad array of mechanical/structural and electromechanical components including gear motors, linear actuators, hydraulic systems and power packs, battery systems, wireless controls, PLC controls, VFDs and many more.
Responsibilities:
The job responsibilities shall include the following:
•Travel to customer and subcontractor sites to troubleshoot, assist with equipment installation, wiring and commissioning of equipment, perform factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.
•Assist service technicians in troubleshooting problems, fixing problems, performing site refurbishments and equipment upgrades.
•Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and manufacturing staff.
•Where feasible, assist in electrical integration with mechanical/structural design elements including panel building, wiring, field troubleshooting, working with technicians and subcontractors, etc.
•Travel to customer or subcontractor sites as required (50-80% of the time; must have valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to the US)
•Assist manufacturing and manufacturing subcontractors with any project-specific technical requirements
•Perform testing and author reports as required to meet project and company test verification requirements in factory and in field.
•Work overtime as required
•Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates MUST have:
•Min. 5+ years of North American electrical experience in machine building and maintenance, power, infrastructure, chemical, food and beverage or other custom machine service, maintenance or manufacturing.
•Good communications skills.
•Strong aptitude for planning, organizing, and working with others.
•Strong working knowledge and demonstrable capability in reading and understanding electrical schematics.
•Experience with Schneider SoMachine, SoMove, MS Office products.
•PLCs programming and configuration of VFDs.
•Working knowledge of electrical codes including relevant Canadian and US codes
•Good understanding of custom design work of large scale custom industrial machine manufacturing, factory/industrial settings.
•Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines.
•A strong team player.
•Must be able to handle multiple projects while still maintaining accuracy.
•Extended technical knowledge in the field of hazardous location technologies, as well as industrial control systems as an asset
•Technology diploma or equivalent practical experience.
