About the Job
The Field Service Technician is a customer-oriented individual who provides excellent service and customized solutions. This individual repairs batteries, chargers and battery handling equipment in a timely and efficient manner at the customer's site, while also actively seeking opportunities to offer the right products to the customer. You'll have access to a company vehicle and training to make you effective. But, you need to bring a working knowledge of standard shop tools, a good understanding of basic electricity/electronics, and the ability to read, analyze and interpret documents. If you enjoy bringing solutions to the customer and don't mind getting your hands a little dirty, this might be for you!
This position is home-based and requires travel to customer sites in the Quad Cities area per business needs.

- Ensure work orders are filled out properly and in a timely manner.
- Convey all information to the proper contact at the customer’s location to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Ensure a clean and safe work area.
- Keep the service vehicle in good working order and stocked correctly, maintained to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Practice safety and good housekeeping at customer site, in shop and in all circumstances when representing Stryten Energy.
- Operate company vehicles in a safe, courteous manner, in all traffic.
- Communicate with Management/Sales on any customer issues.
- Actively promote point of sale items and allied products and services.
- Proper use of company funds and assets in the execution of the job.
- Represent Stryten Energy in a neat and professional manner in accordance with Stryten Energy standards.
- Ability to operate forklift truck, crane, and reach truck on a regular basis.
- Perform service calls at customer locations to repair batteries, chargers and Battery Handling Equipment in a timely manner to meet customer’s expectation.
- Ensure all information is conveyed to proper authority at customer’s location to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the troubleshooting and repair of competitor’s equipment.
- Pursues new accounts, qualifies whether services are warranty or billable.
- Recommends and implements improvements in the work process.
- Interfaces with multiple levels of customers/dealers/management to provide assistance and recommend application improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) to two (2) years of battery industry or related experience.
- Has the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License with hazardous material endorsements within 180 days of hire date (in areas that require)
- Forklift Training Certification or ability to obtain.
Competencies, Skills, Knowledge:
- Usage of standard shop tools. Good understanding of basic electricity/electronics.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical manuals.
- Excellent communication and customer satisfaction skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to train new personnel and provide technical assistance where needed.
- Ability to calculate prices accurately when quoting estimates or completion of the work order for billing purposes, such as adding, subtracting, percentages and volume.
- Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions on the work that needs to be performed.
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills. Ability of work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and plan special projects.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, individual is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Individual is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to regularly lift a minimum 30lbs on a daily basis and 31 to 150lbs with assistance of equipment on a daily to weekly basis.
- Regular use of safety glasses. Vision requirements: close vision.

- Surroundings clean to dirty. Environment could be loud and noisy.
- Appropriate PPE as required by Stryten and customer.
