Responsibilities / Tasks
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive inspections, repairs, testing, and optimization/tuning of Powder Packaging Equipment and Freeze-Drying Equipment.
- Install new Powder Packaging Equipment and Freeze-Drying Equipment, both mechanically and electrically.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation issues, including PLC, HMI, Vision Systems, and communication problems to restore equipment functionality.
- Produce clear, detailed inspection and field service reports for both internal and external use.
- Recommend and implement upgrades and optimizations for Powder Packaging Machinery and Freeze-Drying Equipment.
- Independently or collaboratively install mechanical, automation, and combination upgrades, ensuring high-quality service.
- Provide accurate labor time estimates for service visits, rebuilds, installations, commissioning, and training related to new equipment and retrofits.
- Deliver technical training to customers on equipment operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency service protocols.
- Collaborate with the Center of Competence (CoC) in the development of new products and system upgrades.
- Offer suggestions for improved tools, procedures, and service operations to enhance efficiency.
- Provide support to internal stakeholders on parts requests, quotes, and upgrade sales.
- Travel extensively within North America (USA and Canada), with potential international travel for training and service interventions.
- Maintain a strong attention to detail in all tasks.
Your Profile / Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certification in Automated Packing Machinery, Automation/Controls, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in packaging equipment installation, service, repair, troubleshooting, and automation controls.
- Proficiency in writing and modifying PLC code (Rockwell) and creating/modifying HMI screens.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including the use of hand tools for the maintenance and repair of automated equipment.
- Experience with wiring 3-phase motors, 120VAC power/communication, and 24VDC communication systems.
- Familiarity with networking and communication protocols such as Ethernet, DeviceNet, and more.
- Fluent in both written and verbal English.
- Strong background in automation, controls, and mechanical systems required.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics, PLC and HMI code, as well as troubleshoot software, electrical, and mechanical issues.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in team settings with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
