Automotive Shop Equipment Field Service Technician
We are looking to hire an experienced Field Service Technician to look after the service and maintenance needs of our customers. As a field service technician, you will be required to travel to client locations, install new equipment, respond to service requests, troubleshoot equipment issues, and provide technical training on equipment that may include but is not limited to air compressors, compressed air systems, automotive lifts, tire changers, wheel balancers, and lubrication systems.

As a field service technician, you will be required to travel to client locations, install new equipment, respond to service requests, troubleshoot equipment issues, and provide technical training on equipment that may include but is not limited to air compressors, compressed air systems, automotive lifts, tire changers, wheel balancers, and lubrication systems.
To ensure success as a Field Service Technician, you should have excellent troubleshooting skills, field experience, and the ability to adapt to a changing work schedule. Ultimately, a top-level field service technician efficiently manages all service callouts and dispatches, providing high-quality service and repairs for any job size.
Field Service Technician Responsibilities:
- Responding to customer callouts and field dispatches.
- Meet with the customer to determine the nature of the service or repair.
- Diagnose and repair a range of light and heavy equipment found within an automotive repair center and other industrial service centers.
- Perform diagnostics on malfunctioning equipment, determine possible causes for malfunctions, and perform repairs as needed.
- Disassembling and reassembling equipment and system components.
- Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Interpret technical and parts manuals to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Assist with training of helpers and other service techs.
- Promote and practice proper safety procedures and the correct use of personal protective equipment at all times.
- Develop rapport with customers through effective communication, interpersonal skills, and professionalism.
- Serve as an ambassador for the company, promoting the company culture and work ethics.
- Confidence to identify and recommend improvements in departmental operations to ensure assigned functions are efficient and cost-effective.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete customer work order forms daily as well as service data reports, time cards, expense reports, and other job‐related paperwork as required.
Field Service Technician Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Valid North Carolina Drivers license (No violations that resulted in loss of your license within the past 7 years).
- Demonstrate a high mechanical aptitude in order to diagnose, repair, and install a wide variety of equipment within residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Ability to travel and work according to a changing schedule.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Operate a variety of vehicles such as pick‐up trucks, service trucks, forklifts, loaders, etc.
- Ability to keep accurate records.
- Work from broad to no direction with limited supervision.
- Communicate clearly and concisely in English, verbally and in writing.
- Organize activities in order to complete tasks in accordance with priorities, address multiple demands, or meet deadlines.
- Organize tasks and working environment to maximize efficiency.
- Possess good understanding of single and three phase power.
- Focus attention on tasks, which may be complex, routine, or repetitive, without losing concentration or becoming distracted by external activities.
