Field Service Technician
As a Field Service Technician within our Robotics Service Team, your dedication to responsiveness, clear communication, and consistent follow-up are pivotal in delivering exceptional customer service. You will serve as the primary link between our customers and the Robotics Service Organization, influencing our corporate reputation and revenue generation through effective customer support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to emergency repair needs for robotic system equipment in the field on an on-call basis.
- Offer system integration support for robots in designated build shops and end-user locations.
- Execute robot program modifications, including logic, software, and path alterations through offline or online methods.
- Demonstrate mechanical proficiency in repairing or replacing mechanical components as needed.
- Deliver informal robot-specific or system training sessions to customers as required.
- Maintain strong customer relationships by effectively communicating and resolving issues, even in high-pressure scenarios.
- Proactively anticipate and address customer needs.
- Utilize downtime effectively by identifying and undertaking productive work activities.
- Be ready to travel at short notice and manage the demands of air travel.
- Identify and submit sales leads for additional robotic and system opportunities.
- Provide daily updates on work location and status.
- Expect approximately 80% travel, primarily within Canada and Mexico. This position can alternatively be based anywhere in the US.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED along with 2 years of professional experience OR an Associate's degree. Alternatively, candidates can be hired at a senior level with:
- High School Diploma or GED along with 5 years of professional experience.
- Associate's degree in a technical field along with 3 years of professional experience.
- Bachelor's Degree along with 1 year of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in a technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, robotic, controls, field service, programming, or engineering, preferably with ABB products.
- Proficiency in electronic and mechanical systems, with at least 2 years of experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills based on deductive reasoning.
- Preferred experience in spot welding, arc welding, paint & sealant applications, or related fields, with at least 2 years of experience.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for repairing or replacing mechanical components.
- Enthusiasm for frequent travel.
- Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Background in customer service is highly desirable.
