Field Installation Technician (Houston) - Envera Systems

Summary: This is a field position that reports to a job site determined by the supervisor on a weekly basis, and installs security equipment by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Physical installation of access control, CCTV and gate systems including the required infrastructure, equipment trim-out and programming of devices.
- Proficient in termination different forms of industry cabling including CAT5e, CAT6 and coaxial.
- Knowledge of access control theory and different types of door hardware including maglocks & strikes.
- Aptitude to become proficient in programming and networking configurations of all our IP based equipment.
- Available to work overtime as needed
- Able to interact with customers and represent the company in a professional manner.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and CADs for proper location of devices
- Ability to perform pre-installation site surveys to determine if changes in equipment type and placement need to be made before installation
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years installing commercial access control and CCTV systems preferred.
- Understanding of electric circuits and wiring in low voltage applications.Basic understanding of computer networking.
- Knowledge of cabling including: Cat5e, Cat6 and Coaxial.
- Intermediate PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Detail oriented and able to work independently or in a team.
- Gate Service Experience a plus.
- Ability to travel to project locations throughout Texas on an as needed basis.
- Travel required 70% of the time.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; or one year related experience as an installation technician in similar field, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
- Ability to add, subtract, and take measurements.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to diagnose complex problems and troubleshoot. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems.
