What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Field Engineer Technologist 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Field Engineer Technologist 1 ($85,900 - $136,900)
The Field Engineer Technologist 1 is responsible for ensuring that the technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects are executed in full conformance with the Approved Project Documents by monitoring facility maintenance and construction activities. This is accomplished by providing input during scoping, design, execution, and project closeout to ensure baseline documents are accurate, design documents are adhered to, and as-built configurations are verified. Field Engineers expedite project execution by identifying issues, coordinating technical solutions, and providing timely guidance to the constructor through approved procedures. The level 1 Field Engineer Technologist will require a basic understanding of field engineering principles and have a aptitude to apply these principles in the execution of the job.
Field Engineer Technologist 2 ($94,500 - $154,600)
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level, the level 2 Field Engineer will require a demonstrated understanding of field engineering principles and needs to have applied these principles in a professional environment.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. - Aptitude in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.

- Experience with design and/or installation of facility and infrastructure systems.
- Awareness of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular construction discipline.
- Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to review material take-offs against project documents to ensure compliance with design and specifications.
