Our client is an IT travel and tourism technology company. Their platform connects the travel and hospitality ecosystem.
Summary:
We have an immediate need to fill a 6 month contract to hire position for a Field Engineer. This person will be part of the IT support team at the Charlotte airport.
Candidates must be able to work a flexible shift including evening shifts and weekends.
****This position will involve lots of walking as we are responsible for covering the entire airport.
Note: the individual will be required to pass criminal/background checks to obtain a security badge for the airport.
Job Duties
- Provide local on-site support to all locally installed hardware and software
- Ensuring that Service Level Agreements are met
- Follow airport security procedures
- Report to manager and continuously improve the overall support operation and process through effective logging, notifications, escalation and tracking to resolve all problems presented with in a daily basis
- Perform daily virtual and physical walk-throughs and monitoring of all assigned installed systems
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues and perform preventive maintenance.
- Logging all support calls in our Novo ticketing system and follow up with solutions and document outcomes on issues and technical sheets
- Assist customers, resolve problems with computer hardware and software.
- Coordinate and schedule work with other technicians, local airlines and local IT staff as the support operation requires it
- Monitors all systems daily to ensure continued operation
- Develops and maintains technical and project documentation and coordinates all corrective and preventive maintenance, quarterly maintenance, and daily and out-of-hours work to ensure all support levels are maintained.
- Participates in customer support.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders
Qualifications/Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of PC and Server operating systems
- Peripheral communication knowledge (serial and TCP/IP)
- Networking skills including but not limited to physical and logical LAN, WAN and Routing
- Knowledge of highly available designs for mission critical applications
- Experience with Virtual machine solutions including VMware Workstation, Player and ESX Server
- Machine duplication or imaging and remote installation technologies
- Understanding of application server technologies – ie. IIS, Tomcat, JBOSS
- General understanding of RDBMS installation configuration and administration
