NORC partners with government, corporate, and nonprofit clients around the world to conduct survey research that informs critical decisions facing society.
+ NORC Field Data Collectors, internally known as field interviewers, play a significant role in collecting the data that drives our research.
The Ideal Candidate for Field Data Collector
+ Available to work a flexible, part-time schedule. Our most successful interviewers typically dedicate 4-6 hours a day to working on their assignments.
+ Self-starter who can manage, organize, and commit to their own work schedule.
+ Enjoys meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and professions.
+ Has field interviewing, sales, hospitality, marketing, financial, real estate, tax preparation, teaching, or customer service experience.
Requirements For Employment:
+ Must be at least 18 years of age.
+ High School Diploma or GED Preferred.
+ Willing to work a flexible schedule of 15 – 25 hours per week.
+ Must be comfortable contacting people in-person at their homes, often without notice. Flexible availability to work a mix of weekdays, and evenings/weekends often to reach people who are not home during the work week.
+ Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
+ Must be willing to drive 50 miles or more round trip to complete required task.
+ Must be able to use a NORC-provided tablet and applications for tasks such as sending emails and capturing notes about work completed.
+ Must attend all virtual and in-person training sessions.
+ Have ability to travel for 3 day in-person training sessions located in Greater Chicago, NYC, or Los Angeles area.
+ All employees hired for this position must satisfactory complete a background check, present evidence of their identity, and authorization to work in the United States (I-9 documentation).
+ Qualified applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. We regret that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
Salary And Benefits:
This position is classified as intermittent. The pay range for this position will be$19.00 – $28.41per hour, based on experience and geographic location.
+ Field Interviewers working on the 2025 SCF project are eligible to earn an additional $50 - $100 biweekly, if required training and performance standards are met and maintained.
+ NORC will contribute to an individually owned, fully vested retirement account with TIAA at a rate of$4.93for each hour worked, and contributions will be made on a quarterly basis.
+ Intermittent staff are eligible to make pre-tax or post-tax contributions as part of NORC’s Supplemental Retirement Plan.
+ NORC will provide compensation for:training hours, mileage reimbursement, and other approved expenses.
+ Corporate Discounts.
+ Free counseling and referrals through NORC's Employee Assistance Program.
+ Eligible for paid sick leave.
+ Eligible for holiday pay.
+ Paid orientation and training.
+ Possibility for advancement into full-time management roles.
+ Opportunity for annual raises and/or performance bonuses for those who meet performance goals.

+ Much of the work needed for this project is completed from March to June 2025. All field interviewers wishing to continue working on this project to its anticipated end of December 2025 must complete additional training.
