Responsibilities & Expectations:
The Field Application Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to customers, ensuring that they are able to successfully implement, integrate, and optimize the IPS Power Systems generator and switchgear products. Will work closely with customers, sales teams, and specifying engineers to understand the technical requirements and challenges customers face, offering solutions and troubleshooting as needed. This role involves travel to customer sites and requires in-depth knowledge of the company’s product portfolio.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, providing pre-sales and post-sales support including product selection, recommend solutions, proposals based on customer requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring customer satisfaction
- Conduct on-site and remote product demonstrations and training sessions
- Assist in the design, integration, and deployment of company products into customer applications
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication and on-site visits
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings to promote the company's products
- Collaborate with engineering teams to solve complex issues and implement product improvements, enhancements or modifications
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation, including user guides, application notes, and technical white papers
- Travel to customer sites for in-person support, system integration, troubleshooting, and technical discussions
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent in experience in a related field
- 3+ years of experience in a technical role, preferably in field applications, technical support, or a related discipline
- In-depth understanding of generator systems, parallelling switchgear, control systems and specifically Kohler products and features
- Proficiency in system integration, troubleshooting, debugging, and relevant hardware and software tools
- Ability to read and understand technical schematics, product specifications, and application requirements
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
