Farm and Ranch/Agricultural Sales Associate - O. A. Newton

O. A. Newton’s Farm and Ranch store located in Bridgeville, DE is seeking an experienced Farm and Ranch/Agricultural Sales Associate. We are launching our newest addition, ‘The Warehouse’, to our current Farm and Ranch store and Lindenmere Gift Market located on the same property. Our business is rich in history, since 1916, and our main priority is customer service.

Position Summary

Our Farm and Ranch / Agricultural Sales Associate is responsible for ensuring a great customer experience by creating a friendly and welcoming environment within the store. Will assist guests with merchandise accessibility, product questions, or help with choosing the right product for their needs. Must be knowledgeable about our product offerings and willing to work with the customer to determine their needs.

Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):

Customer Service

• Greet customers every time they enter the store and create a welcoming environment.

• Assist the customer in the selection process and provide product information as needed, as well as communicate current store promotions and make merchandise suggestions based on the needs of the customer.

• Must be able to create a quote for customers based on data gathered on products and customer needs.

• Assisting the customer by delivering product to the counter or the customer’s car, whichever they prefer.

• Encourage customers to give us their e-mail address for future sales potential and to follow O. A. Newton on our website/e-commerce and on Facebook for information regarding merchandise and sales.

• Establish rapport with customers by asking about their experience, where they are from, how they heard about the store and by thanking them for their purchase.

Sales Floor Management

• Daily maintenance of the store and surrounding areas in a clean, organized and easy-to-navigate manner. We pride ourselves on being clean and organized.

• Must be able to fully understand various sales software and register transactions including ringing purchases, processing payments, counting money, processing returns as per company procedure, and all associated paperwork for end-of-day reporting.

• Does a daily “sweep” of the sales floor for defective/broken merchandise, reorganizing displays, loss prevention purposes, and tag replacement.

Personal Productivity

• Opt-In (E-mail and Facebook) results.

• Receiving inventory, tagging and placement of merchandise will be handled during each shift.

• Work with integrity, follow store procedures, and take ownership of product, transactions and paperwork during each shift.

• Establish relationships with customers and co-workers, creating a positive work environment.

• Adhere to assigned work schedule, be punctual, and take ownership of timecard.

• Adhere to personal appearance policy.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Two or more years’ experience in Farm and Ranch/Agricultural and/or Hardware experience, sales and customer service.

• Must have forklift certifications.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• The ability to continuously stand/walk, frequently push/pull/bend/reach, climb a ladder and carry or push up to 50lbs. of merchandise.

• Knowledge of cash functions and payment processing.

• Computer Skills.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including events, holidays, evenings and weekends.
