Position Summary:
Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
Location: Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center/HCPC at UTHealth Houston
Dept.: BSC Psychiatry
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Position Key Accountabilities:
Performs relevant patient assessments and physical examinations.
Coordinates, directs, and implements patient's plan of care.
Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.
Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome-based treatment plan.
Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes.
Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient's recovery.
Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure issued by the Texas Board of Nursing required.
- APRN-BC - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Board Certified current Texas Licensure as an APRN-NP required.
- PMHNP-BC - Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner required.
- Prescriptive (RX) Authority required.
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required.
- Specialty certification as required by department required.
Minimum Education:
Masters in Nursing as NP required.
Minimum Experience:
None
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
