Destiny Church in Twinsburg, Ohio is seeking a Family Ministry Coordinator.
Position Description:
The primary purpose of the Family Ministry Coordinator (FMC) is to build meaningful relationships with children and parents that cultivates a relationship with Jesus Christ. This individual will vision, plan, and advocate for children in our church and community, particularly in the areas of discipleship. This individual will oversee a program that nurtures and grows the children’s faith into a lifelong journey of following and serving God.
Expectations for Position:

- Leadership:
- Recruit, equip and lead adult volunteers to help lead the children, youth,
and family ministry programs of the church. - Supervise children’s ministry assistants, nursery staff, and children’s
ministry volunteers. - Collaborate with Engage (Youth) Group leadership

- Programming:
- Oversee and manage the children ministries programs
- Develop new programs and seek to find ways to grow these programs, the
connections between children and parents, and their faith development. - Equip families with resources and education to help them become actively and intentionally involved in the spiritual formation and discipleship of their families.
- Promote service and outreach through age-appropriate service projects.
- Create a presence of Destiny Children’s ministry in the community
- In collaboration with the Co-Pastors, provide pastoral support and care for
children and their families. - Facilitate Meetings
- Regularly meet with Children’s ministry volunteers to plan and develop curriculum, activities, and goal planning.
- Identify and develop training as needed for ministry volunteers.
- Administration:
- Manage communication with children, families, and the congregation using the various communication tools available.
- Coordinate the Check-In/Out process for children at all events
- Coordinate schedules and volunteers.
- Screen and ensure volunteers follow Safe Gathering protocols.
- In coordination with the Elders, develop and oversee budgets for the
children’s ministry programs. - Manage the children’s spaces of the church, ensuring they are safe, clean,
and presentable for shared use. - Meet, and coordinate with, the elder overseeing “Connect” ministries to
maintain mission and vision alignment.
Ministry at Destiny Church:
Destiny Church seeks to extend an invitation to each person who walks through the doors of our building into a genuine encounter with our God and King. We will reach the 155,000 people in the Tri-county area with repeated opportunities to see, hear, and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ. We will do this by making disciples who are growing in five key areas We call these areas the 5G. These growing disciples, in turn, will reach those in their circle of influence, thus eventually saturating our geography with the incarnated message of the gospel. Our clear and simple process creates environments for disciples to grow.
As a member of the ministry staff at Destiny Church the FMC will be required to participate in weekend services, special events, staff meetings, and lead/coordinate our weekly children’s programming.
Position requirements:
- A committed, growing follower of Jesus Christ.
- A degree in Children’s Ministry or experience leading Children’s Ministry is preferred.
- Authentic and consistent in his/her own spiritual walk and relationships.
- Maintains family and personal integrity based on 2 Timothy.
- A desire to shepherd others.
- Firm commitment to the Destiny Church statement of faith, core values, and mission.
- Ability to interpret, teach and effectively apply the Bible to life and leadership.
- Able to engage and lead cross-cultural and intergenerational cohorts proficiently.
- Teachable spirit with an eager readiness to learn, serve, and grow.
- Firm commitment to confidentiality.
- Able to build a team that leads and carries out children’s ministry by inspiring others to serve our children
- Driven to reach kids who do not know Christ by being relevant and providing a great space for them to connect with other kids and leaders
- An advocate for connecting with parents and equipping them to be the leader of their child’s spiritual development
- A proven project manager with a strong attention to details, pursuit of excellence and administrative skills
- A team player and team builder who focuses on the good of the entire organization
- An experienced leader with a track record of executing multiple projects at once
- Driven to connect with people and help them discover their gifts and talents
- A strong communicator who listens well and applies feedback appropriately
Weekly Schedule:
- 20 hours a week
- As is typical with ministry, this position requires a flexible schedule. Both for you and the church. It includes agreed upon onsite office hours, Sunday service, evening activities and occasional meeting and special events.
