POSITION SUMMARY:
An entry level engineer participating in a technically diverse team focused on increasing the value of Fujifilm Dimatix products through rigorous failure analysis and prevention activities. Will develop failure analysis mastery through being mentored in failure analysis and executing on increasingly complex failure analysis. Will develop failure prevention mastery through being mentored in failure prevention and executing more complex tests of failure prevention measures.

SUPERVISION
Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
EXPERIENCE
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates failure analysis plans by gathering design intent information from the design engineering team, customer use case from the global technical support team, construction of possible failure mechanisms, and a series of deconstructions of the product and microscopic evaluations to gather evidence of the most probable cause of failure.
- Analyze product failures to determine most probable causes of failure.
- Review data collected by technicians executing on aspects of failure analysis plan for integration into failure root cause analysis.
- Develops and validates new failure analysis techniques based on previous failure analysis results.
- Participates in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis efforts to identify design aspects most probable to cause manufacturing defects or customer dissatisfaction events to identify the highest value failure prevention testing.
- Conducts tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure they are fit for use. Tests are a mix of industrial standards test of electrical, chemical, and mechanical properties and bespoke inkjet tests.
- Develop new techniques to determine a material or product is fit for use.
- Design, assemble, and commission basic electro-mechanical systems from off the shelf components to evaluate product reliability
- Troubleshoot basic electro-mechanical systems
- Setup and operate lab equipment to generate insight into failures, creating failures, and preventing failures
- Composes technical reports that reflect key learnings of work
- Protect the health and safety of our team through safe work practice
