Position Description
Concordia University full-time faculty fulfill the university's mission to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world via teaching, scholarship and service. Concordia University faculty are active scholars in their academic disciplines and participate in the life of the university via curriculum development, academic program assessment, and other activities that support student recruitment, retention and engagement. All Concordia faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in college-level teaching.
The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator is a core faculty member in the OTD program, and manages and administers doctoral capstone coursework. This position receives a 6-credit administrative release in order to fulfill capstone oversight responsibilities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Doctoral Capstone Coordinator:
The Capstone Coordinator is responsible for management and administration of doctoral capstone coursework, including but not limited to the following:
- Ensure compliance with capstone requirements according to ACOTE standards Section D.
- Coordinate capstone placements for students in the OTD program.
- Complete midterm visits for students working on their capstone project.
- Educate and prepare students for the capstone project by teaching capstone-related courses, including preparation of capstone project - literature review, needs assessment, goals, and evaluation plan.
- Oversee capstone administrative assistant.
- Update and obtain new capstone contracts/MOUs as needed for all student placements.
- Oversee software implementation for capstone placements.
- Collaborate with OT faculty, academic fieldwork coordinator, and program chair concerning capstone and student issues.
- Attend Michigan Occupational Therapy Education Consortium (MOTEC) meetings.
- Attend AOTA academic leadership meeting (ALC) bi-annually and the annual AOTA conference to keep abreast of capstone issues and network with other doctoral capstone coordinators.
Full-time ranked OTD Faculty:
- Teach classes as assigned, including but not limited to capstone-related courses.
- Conduct peer-reviewed scholarship/research as described in the Concordia University faculty handbook.
- Provide service to the department, school and university as described in the Concordia University faculty handbook.
- Collaborate with faculty in various healthcare disciplines within the School of Health Professions, as well as the campus at large.
- Attend departmental, school, and university wide faculty meetings.
- Attend opening ceremony, graduation, faculty retreat and other CU gatherings as requested by administration.
- Maintain proficiency in technology for student teaching and interaction including Microsoft office, databases, and web interaction including the CU designated learning management system.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
- Earned doctorate in Occupational Therapy or a related discipline; PhD or post-professional doctorate preferred.
- Prior successful teaching experience in higher education is preferred with experience in blended content delivery method as well as online teaching methodologies.
- Current licensure to practice occupational therapy in Michigan, or eligibility for licensure.
- Minimum of three years of clinical or teaching experience with documented evidence of expertise including knowledge of or participation in clinical practice (community based and/or creation of new programs), oversight of student or staff projects, and proven ability to interact with community partners and market new programs.
