Position Summary
Concordia University Wisconsin-Ann Arbor seeks applicants for a part-time faculty position in the School of Nursing (SON) on the Ann Arbor campus. The successful candidate is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for classroom, online, blended, clinical instruction, simulation, and other activities relating to nursing education. This is a twelve-month on-site contract with the University. This position reports to the Undergraduate Nursing Program Chairperson and is located on the Ann Arbor campus of the university.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Each faculty member is expected to comply with all rules and regulations for University faculty as outlined in the Concordia University Wisconsin & Ann Arbor (CUWAA) and School of Nursing (SON) Faculty Handbooks. In addition, they have the following responsibilities:
Academic
- Implement teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students
- Teach undergraduate nursing courses as assigned by department chair
- Provide timely written and verbal feedback related to student performance
- Keep current records of student grades and academic work
- Participate in ongoing course and program review and revision
- Participate in program governance
Clinical
- Teach and/or coordinate clinical courses based on professional expertise
- Follow SON policies and procedures related to clinical teaching and student performance
- Communicate regularly with course coordinators and program director/chair regarding concerns
- Work collaboratively with staff at assigned clinical facilities/agencies
- Secure and evaluate clinical sites for student learning
- Meet the health and vaccination requirements for all health care clinical affiliates who partner with the SON programs. *These requirements may vary from university requirements.
Professional Activity
- Maintain unencumbered RN licensure and current knowledge of clinical practice within the areas of teaching responsibility
- Assist with recruitment of students
- Participate in professional, community, university, and school service
- Engage in scholarship commensurate with academic rank
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrates effective leadership, organizational skills, and is a self-starter
- Exhibits a willingness and ability to work with diverse individuals and organizations
- Experience with using technology, specifically use of high-fidelity simulation preferred
- Familiar with the university campus life
- Able to deal with interruptions and work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to present a Christian and professional manner
- Candidates should possess strong written and oral communications skills
- Able to travel occasionally on behalf of the University
- All candidates should possess an ability to meet deadlines and work night/weekends
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education & Experience
- Current Michigan licensure as a registered nurse or eligible for such licensure
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or related field
- Current knowledge of theoretical principles and clinical practice within at least one of the following specialty areas is required: psychological health, med-surg, obstetrics/women's health, pediatrics, community health, leadership and management
- Previous teaching experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program is preferred
- Previous use of innovative and active teaching strategies, including simulation is preferred

Compensation & Benefits
This is a part-time Faculty position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience.
