Axient is seeking a Construction and Facility General Engineer to support the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) on Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs, CO.
Responsibilities:Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a Construction and Facility Engineer and Project Integrator for the Deputy Chief of Staff Engineer (DCSENG) at United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) Headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO.
- Coordinate, review, and facilitate the approval and execution of facility maintenance and modifications for US Government-owned or leased properties.
- Provide planning and oversight for installation engineering solutions, including inspections and recommendations for efficient construction methods.
- Plan, monitor, and execute projects with emphasis on technical performance, cost efficiency, and adherence to schedule.
- Oversee Contractor Quality Assurance (QA) activities, assess critical mission impacts, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with SMDC facility requirements.
- Liaise with senior leadership from various organizations to strategize facility upgrades, maintenance, and repair initiatives.
- Deliver project status updates to Integrated Product Team (IPT) members and program leadership as needed.
- Daily coordination with Space and Missile Defense Command stakeholders to adjust priorities and optimize workflow.
- Proficient in interpreting and creating Statements of Work (SOW) and providing feedback on contractor support agreements to accommodate evolving mission requirements.
- Provide engineering support and technical assistance across multiple engineering disciplines (Civil, Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Architectural, etc.) to SMDC and other agencies.
- Ability to interpret building drawings, schematics, and technical specifications for effective project oversight.
- Conduct inspections and offer QA guidance during project execution.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess an active and transferable DoD Secret security clearance with current investigation; must be able to obtain a DoD Top Secret/SCI for continued employment. US citizenship is required for clearance eligibility. Must be able to maintain the required clearance.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in Program Management, knowledge of contract actions / SOWs / CDRLs and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
- Plan, organize, and direct the work of teams or task forces conducting comprehensive trade studies, technical projects, and problem resolution.
- Develop strong working relationships and rapport with subordinate, peer, and management personnel within the home organization and with contemporary organizations and contract partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a staff member at a military higher headquarters as a uniformed service member or government civilian is highly preferred.
- Expertise providing DOTMLPF "Facilities" domain expertise and input as a member of Command integrated planning teams and staff operational planning efforts.
- Comprehensive knowledge of DoD Installation Management activities and responsibilities.
- Experience coordinating and monitoring performance of facility related maintenance and operations. Knowledge of and experience with the development, qualification, and maintenance for the reliability and sustainment of infrastructure.
- Understanding of major and minor MILCON project management from Design Charrette through Final Design and the experience to provide insight to stakeholders.
- Ability to assist the Government during planning charrettes and reviews on design packages for supported projects.
- PMP, CCM, FMP, or equivalent certification.
