POSITION: Facilities Technician
PROGRAM: Administration
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Becoming Independent (BI) Facilities Technician maintains and monitors the daily operations of all BI sites, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of the organization, clients, and staff. This position provides maintenance, janitorial, repair services, and event support at BI facilities and surrounding grounds (primarily the Program Headquarters on Corporate Center Parkway location).
SALARY: $23 per hour
STATUS: Full-time, Non-exempt; Occasional weekends and evenings; no employee supervision.
CRITICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with persons served, peers, supervisors, and other staff, affiliated agency staff, and members of the community.
- Attend, actively engage, and participate in weekly staff meetings, training sessions, and other relevant meetings.
REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
- Maintenance of all janitorial, building, and repair tools and equipment.
- Landscape duties include trimming, weeding, leaf blowing, and overall maintenance of the outside grounds.
- Make repairs to facilities and equipment. This may include painting, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and furniture moving.
JANITORIAL DUTIES
- Follow a regular cleaning schedule, including, but not limited to, bathrooms, outside grounds, common areas, the open programming space, kitchen, and office spaces. Ensure areas are maintained at the highest level possible in regard to safety and cleanliness.
- Clean and assist with the upkeep of the facilities, including wiping down windows, walls, doors, etc., with proper cleaning solutions. Vacuum, dust, sweep, and mop the facility, offices, and common areas.
- Perform general recycling and trash daily, occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs. Ensure that all garbage and recyclables are separated into the appropriate receptacles. Keep all indoor and outdoor garbage receptacles from overflowing. Keep the receptacle area and alleyway free of debris.
- Inventory and order all janitorial and maintenance supplies.
- Support BI Programs by responding to immediate janitorial needs.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of one year of janitorial, maintenance, and handyperson experience. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace (English).
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Ability to make repairs to facilities and equipment. Knowledge of janitorial equipment, chemicals, supplies; safe handling, and best practices. Basic computer skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A physical condition that will permit frequent bending, squatting, turning, and lifting without injury.
- Ability to operate a vehicle for a portion of your shift.
- Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to assist individuals in wheelchairs.
- Provide personal care to individuals, including assistance in the restroom and feeding.
- Lift at least 40 pounds.
- Clearance of pre-employment Functional Capacity Evaluation with no restrictions that cannot be reasonably accommodated without undue hardship.
