The Job at a Glance
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the successful communication and coordination of repair and maintenance requests for Credit Union 1 facilities. They will monitor and ensure credit union-owned and leased facilities and equipment are maintained at a high level. This includes but is not limited to HVAC systems, electrical, lighting, janitorial, signage, roof systems, plumbing, elevators, fire, and security systems, grounds including safety and ADA compliance. This is a hands-on position.
A Typical Day
- Maintain and monitor vendor lists for HVAC, elevators, fire, emergency, security alarms, janitorial, landscaping/snow removal and all other vendors for all facilities.
- Contract vendors for maintenance work, including planned preventive maintenance, routine maintenance, and urgent work assignments.
- Solicit bids from vendors, review terms of agreements, recommend purchases and monitor contract terms and vendor performance to ensure compliance with agreements, regulatory standards, and quality of service standards, developing a catalog of approved vendors.
- Assist Facilities Manager with facilities portion of the annual budget and manage expenses within budget.
- Contact for building, tenant, and branch maintenance issues.
- Performs maintenance duties including assembling furniture and small equipment.
- Proactively visits office locations inside and outside to identify maintenance needs, including employee and member safety concerns.
- Performs project management by creating timelines and target dates, scheduling work, and tracking. Regularly reports project status to Facilities Manager.
- Validates invoices to work performed or goods/services received before submitting to Facilities Manager for payment.
- Manages facilities related vendor relationships and resolves any issues, including due diligence on selection of new facilities vendors.
- Review and follow up on open helpdesk tickets to ensure resolution and closing of tickets is occurring.
- 24/7 emergency building maintenance contact.

What We Look For
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Ability to use both hand and power tools required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Attention to detail for quality control and safety standards.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to solve problems and to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Valid driver license, good driving record and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
- Maintenance experience with buildings.
- Experience with construction/leasehold improvements.
