Position Summary:Rocket Pharma is a company bringing hope and relief to patients with undertreated rare diseases through the development and commercialization of curative first-in-class gene therapies. We are seeking a high energy, motivated candidate for an experienced Facilities Technician .
The incumbent directs and supervises contractors and vendors that are responsible for the maintenance of the building and equipment for the biologics business unit. In this position, the Facilities Technician will coordinate / oversee the repair and upkeep of production equipment, support equipment, utilities and building systems. The incumbent will also support minimizing production downtime due to equipment malfunction / failure in accordance with approved SOPs and maintains equipment to its validated state.
The ideal candidate will have relevant industry experience in biotechnology, cGMP or similar industry experience at a biotech organization and capable of performing work on mechanical, electrical, and/or instrumentation services. This must be supported by a strong passion and curiosity for researching new and improved techniques / technologies relevant to maintaining the Manufacturing Facility.
Responsibilities:• Directly supervise Contractor Staff.
• In collaboration with his supervisor, will revise SOPs and implement preventive maintenance schedules on critical production equipment and maintain equipment files for regulatory compliance.
• Responsible for utilities operation, maintenance activities on laboratory equipment and routine facilities repairs.
• Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment and laboratory equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Independent, self-motivated, organized, able to multi-task in project environments, and skilled in communication, facilitation, and collaboration.
• Ensure systems are maintained / operating safely and align with pertinent regulations.
• Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; Identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Enforces a SAFE WORK environment amongst the maintenance and contractor staff and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
• Consistently maintains a professional and positive work environment - must be a Team player.
• Participates in Emergency response team as necessary.
• Ensures all documentation is produced in compliance with cGMP standards and SOPs.
• Contribute to investigations and change controls as required and implement corrective actions and compliance with Company policies and procedures.
• Contributes to plant appearance and safety by directing and monitoring plant building maintenance activities including set up for special events.
• Monitors spare parts inventory, orders supplies, and maintains purchase records.
• Monitor and repair facilities systems and technical devices directly supporting testing and building operations.
• Performs custodial tasks including snow removal, where necessary.
• Performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for facilities. Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
• Must be able to coordinate with other departments for scheduling work to be performed.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including after hours or On Call when needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read and understand repair manuals, electrical single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, controls schematics and equipment specifications is a must.
• Direct experience with regulated environments (i.e. OSHA, EPA) including understanding of cGMPs.
• Ability to train others on basic maintenance and repairs.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office (OUTLOOK, WORD, EXCEL).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 75lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
• At least 5 years minimum of maintenance or engineering experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company with direct experience with GMP facility operation
Educational Requirements:
• Technical training, an Associate’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree is required.
