Skills Preferred:
The facilities system engineer (FSE) is responsible for site maintenance, upgrades, improvements, expansion and reconfiguration of existing telecommunications sites and/or development of new sites. FSE must analyze, manage, design, construct, install, modify and upgrade sites, telecom buildings and building appurtenances, towers and support systems for complex large-scale telecommunications public safety and emergency response systems. Technical Skills: In depth knowledge of telecommunications building maintenance, preventive maintenance, managing facility improvements, HVAC, antenna towers, generators, fuel tanks, power systems. Proficiency in project management, construction management, estimates, budgeting, purchasing, contracts, site access and/or lease agreements. Deep understanding of regulatory compliance and air navigational safety. Customer service Coachable and trainable Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to document design process, establish process and procedures Coordinating and logistics with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Experience Preferred:
Three (3) years of experience within the last eight (8) years working in planning, design, installation, documentation, project management and maintenance of public safety radio communications sites and systems, including:
- Telecommunication facilities infrastructure systems (antenna tower structure, tower load study, equipment building, power system, generator, fuel tank and battery system)
- Direct or indirect work with site acquisition and development, site access agreements, and lease of real property/site use agreement
- Radio site infrastructure requirements/ development - California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) or National
- Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental compliance review - Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Aviation
- Administration (FAA) rules and regulations
- Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA)/Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)
- Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) and applicable industry standards related to telecommunications infrastructure.
Education Preferred:
A Bachelors' Degree from an accredited college with specialization in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Facility Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or Physics. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to the Education.
