Summary: Under the general direction of the Capital Projects and Facilities Director this position will be responsible for the planning & management for a major capital project at RI Hospital. This includes conceptualization functional planning design development project approval and implementation. Is initially responsible for the planning design and implementation of all projects as they relate to the Middle Campus work. Ensures that all projects under scope by outside designers consulting firms and contractors are in compliance RI Hospital and Lifespan standards and with all applicable codes and regulations.
Responsibilities: Manages Middle Campus Program Vendor. The Facilities Program Leader will manage and collaborate with Vendor. Vendor will be responsible for planning hiring designers and executing defined projects. Work with RIH staff to assist with defining individual projects and departmental needs to maintain continued operations while minimizing disruption. Initiates and distributes surveys to collect space data including on and off campus building floor information and departmental room assignments related to program requirements. Responsible for developing planning information and documents required for senior leader capital project approval. Monitors budget and staff time job costs and accounting; reviews invoices/billing; develops and maintains contracts. Prepares funding authorization process invoices and control project finances. Monitors the development of the project assuring that the target dates are met and expenditures are within budget Communicate with RIH leadership and functional management tenants and internal customers to determine project requirements and develop a scope of work. Develop RFPs as necessary for various project disciplines contractors equipment furniture etc. May work with in-house or external architects or engineers. Familiarity with architectural/construction engineering design cost estimating project coordination and specification writing and a minimum of one-year practical CADD experience. Interpersonal experience to effectively interact with all levels of hospital personnel and outside contractors and consultants as well as Corporate leadership and C-Suite personnel.
Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: The level of knowledge of architectural design principles construction bachelor�s degree program in architectural design or similar education credentials. Specific knowledge of healthcare requirements FGA requirements and Joint commission review requirements. Knowledge of building and fire codes along with federal and state accessibility regulations. Familiarity with zoning and other building industry regulations. Some experience with healthcare planning R&D laboratory planning or office planning. Working knowledge of computers CADD systems and engineering management software used to effectively produce construction documents specifications and schedules. Knowledge of local zoning requirements and NFPA 101 guidelines. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 15 years previous related experience in a design or planning capacity or Project management with an architectural firm or institution similar to RI hospital.
