About the Job
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is currently seeking a Full Time Facilities Manager for its Plant Services Department located in Newark, New Jersey.
The Facilities Manager manages maintenance activities related to the agency’s physical property. He or she maintains accountability for the professional standards within his or her areas of supervision and implements policies and procedures for those areas. He or she delivers services within the scope of their service delivery area and administratively supervises any assigned staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Leadership
- Regularly attends work in conformance with the schedule designated by the supervisor
- Supports the organizations mission, vision, and values
- Designs, plans, and coordinates a preventative maintenance program for all sites heating, cooling, interior, and exterior property
- Participates in a proactive approach to developing a plan for improving facilities
- Oversees training needs of staff supervised by him or her
- Recommends a sufficient number of qualified staff to provide services within general services
- Supervision
- Evaluates and supervises all staff under his or her direct line of authority
- Maintains accountability for professional standards of practice for staff
- Ensures the work of staff and vendors adheres to zoning, hazardous waste, fire codes, traffic, and other state and federal safety requirements
- Fiscal Performance
- Meets or does not exceed budgeted operating expenses for fiscal year
- Assists in improving the financial picture for the organization by recommending proactive maintenance plans
- Ensures vendor use is cost effective and bids out work as per administrative guidelines
- Complies with reporting requirements
- Cultural Competence
- Recruits and hires staff with appropriate linguistic skills and cultural knowledge to provide services
- Provides on-going training, supervision, and evaluation of staff on issues of cultural competence
- Assists with designing policies and procedures that are culturally appropriate to the clients serviced
- Ensures that policies and procedures and staff performance are in compliance with the cultural and linguistic guidelines and expectations of the State of New Jersey, including, but not limited to, those of NJDMHAS
SCHEDULE:
- Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm
IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING ABILITIES & SKILLS:
- Knowledge of bidding relating to construction or buildings
- Knowledge of building trades
- Knowledge of building code regulations
- Excellent organizational time management and self management skills
- Ability to effectively manage staff under their supervision
- Ability to problem solve and to work in high stress situations
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required
- Valid driver's license required
- 3 years of related experience in plant services/facilities and supervisory experience required
