We all know anything "man-made" will eventually break or need repair. We also know that being "handy" is a true skill, and not to be taken lightly. We are looking for a Facilities Manager with Maintenance and Handy-Man experience, who will help keep things looking good and in great working order for our Western Branch and Newport News locations. Handyman Ability
Light Plumbing
Light Electrical
Able to change out / manipulate hardware
Wall repair / Painting
Able to lift up to 50-70lbs
Having a general knowledge of maintenance, repair, and manual tasks of the area assigned is a must. General knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools is required. Your ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, follow instructions, estimate needed materials for job completion, and time required for various jobs is also a requirement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-5 years of handywork/renovation experience (drywall, painting, flooring, light electrical, light plumbing, tile, casework/solid surface, woodworking, etc.)
- Possess a thorough understanding of tools, safety equipment, and their proper uses
- Must have a valid Driver's License and pass a driver's background check
- Clean driving record
- Can pass drug screening and background check
RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will be responsible for completing tasks efficiently and effectively
- A great building maintenance technician is well-organized with strong skills in multi-tasking
- Perform maintenance activities such as painting and carpentry, while assisting with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and security systems
- Inspect facilities for functionality and safety
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment such as power generators, refrigeration units, heating equipment etc
- Maintain facilities by cleaning, polishing, organizing, and replacing materials
- Perform routine maintenance on plumbing, electrical, and heating systems
- Provide assistance to building managers in emergency situations
- Conduct general upkeep procedures such as painting, electrical wiring, etc
- Perform other tasks assigned by the building manager
- Communicate effectively with the manager of the facility (e.g. about emergencies)
- Installs and replaces receptacles and switches; pulls wire; install light fixtures, ballasts, conduit, and computer wires
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, electronic, refrigeration, and air conditioning malfunctions; repairs electric motors
- Installs, services, and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is an in-person position and attendance is required in order to maintain employment.
