Job Details
- Valid Driver’s License: A current and valid driver’s license is required.
- Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of five years of experience in hospital maintenance or construction within a healthcare setting is mandatory.
- Supervisory Expertise: At least five years of supervisory experience in healthcare-related facility equipment and systems, including chiller systems, steam boilers, hydraulic systems, building controls, electrical systems, and air handlers.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of standards from TJC, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local regulatory agencies is critical.
- Professionalism: Candidates must exhibit strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Hands-On Role: This is a working director position, requiring the ability to actively assist maintenance mechanics when necessary.
- Career Stability: Candidates with stable job histories are preferred; frequent job changes are discouraged.
- Relevant Healthcare Experience: Experience should be from one of the following settings: acute care hospitals, inpatient rehab hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, behavioral health hospitals, or skilled nursing facilities (SNF). Experience from retirement communities, assisted living facilities, or drug/alcohol rehabilitation centers is not applicable for this role. Unsure about a candidate’s background? - Relocation: Local candidates are preferred; however, out-of-state candidates willing to relocate will be considered. While relocation assistance may be available, it is not guaranteed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all hospital facilities, satellite clinics, and systems comply with Joint Commission standards and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Leadership in Safety: Plan and lead environment-of-care and safety meetings, potentially serving as the safety officer to uphold compliance standards.
- Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs following industry best practices and manufacturer guidelines.
