Responsibilities:Job Summary: The Facilities Technician supports the Facilities Manager in maintaining the manufacturing plant’s infrastructure, equipment, and systems. This role is responsible for conducting routine and preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations. The Facilities Technician works closely with production teams to minimize downtime and improve facility reliability, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventative Maintenance:
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Monitor and log system performance data, identifying any potential issues before they impact operations.
- Lubricate, clean, and replace parts as necessary to keep equipment functioning efficiently.
- Repairs & Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and repair issues with facility equipment and infrastructure, including lighting, doors, plumbing, and other building systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and structural issues to minimize downtime and disruption.
- Escalate complex issues to the Facilities Manager or external contractors when required.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all OSHA, EPA, and plant-specific safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, identify hazards, and report any unsafe conditions to the Facilities Manager.
- Participate in safety training and emergency drills as required by plant policy.
- Facility Inspections:
- Perform daily inspections of critical facility components, including emergency exits, fire suppression systems, and equipment.
- Ensure all plant areas are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion, reporting any maintenance needs to the Facilities Manager.
- Equipment Operation & Monitoring:
- Operate and monitor facility equipment, such as boilers, compressors, and chillers, ensuring they meet operational standards.
- Assist in energy conservation efforts by monitoring equipment settings and usage.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent on tasks.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Facilities Manager on maintenance activities and any issues encountered.
- Track inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and parts, notifying the Facilities Manager when stock levels are low.
- Assistance in Projects & Upgrades:
- Assist the Facilities Manager with facility upgrade projects, machinery installations, and layout changes as needed.
- Support in moving, setting up, and testing new equipment to ensure it functions correctly within the plant layout.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in facilities maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proficiency with basic hand and power tools, as well as facility systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
- Ability to interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Basic computer skills for logging maintenance activities; experience with CMMS is a plus.
