Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Timings: 5:30 PM - 6:00 AM MST (Monday-Wednesday and every other Thursday)
Job Description:
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for operating, maintaining, and supporting a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This position includes scheduling and performing all related activities and projects in compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and procedures. The role involves conducting inspections, preventative maintenance, and responding to service calls, ensuring the facility and equipment are maintained in the best condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections and perform preventative maintenance on facilities, equipment, and systems.
- Maintain logs and records to support the operation and maintenance of critical systems, ensuring cGMP compliance and effective operation.
- Operate and maintain the central utilities plant, including high-pressure steam, water boilers, centrifugal chillers, pumping systems, cooling towers, air handling units, air compressors, purified water systems, wastewater treatment, and other support equipment.
- Maintain buildings and grounds in excellent condition.
- Respond to service calls during and after regular working hours, troubleshoot, and complete in-house repairs as necessary. Coordinate with outside contractors when needed.
- Support manufacturing and maintenance activities and work during scheduled plant shutdown days.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
Must-Have Experience (1+ year required):
- Experience in industrial, production, manufacturing, grocery store, hospital, medical device, or food service manufacturing maintenance areas.
- HVAC experience.
- General maintenance experience in healthcare, medical device, or large industrial buildings.
- Plumbing experience.
- Computer literacy.
Preferred Experience & Certifications:
- 3+ years of facility maintenance or construction experience in manufacturing environments, especially in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, medical devices, or food processing industries.
- Working knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of plant utility systems, including building automation controls.
- Boiler Operator (High Pressure) certification and/or electrical licenses (preferred but not required).
- Experience with HVAC and plumbing systems.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Work Environment:
- Regular inspections and repairs throughout the facility.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physical tasks such as bending, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Must be willing to work during scheduled plant shutdowns and respond to after-hours service calls.
