Summary:
The Facilities & Maintenance Manager will lead the site maintenance team, assist with electrical instrumentation and controls work, and report to the VP – US Operations. The position will primarily focus on facilities maintenance, as well as the upgrade, modernization, installation and troubleshooting of production equipment. The Facilities & Maintenance Manager will also assist with projects that will include inside Engineering and Maintenance staff, outside Engineering companies, and Contractors. The main purpose of the role is to ensure achievement of company goals by improving equipment uptime and reducing costs to best service the customers by using LEAN best practice techniques.

- Ensures adherence to all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
- Plans and coordinates all maintenance activities in the facility including analyzing equipment needs, reliability issues, developing preventive/predictive maintenance programs
- Carries out inspections of the facility to identify and resolve issues
- Prepares daily, weekly and monthly maintenance reports using CMMS (Agility). Compiles data relating to equipment performance to enable evaluation
- Supervises periodic maintenance, servicing and inspection of equipment.
- Sets up the Planned Maintenance Program and schedules for the facility. Must compile, publish, implement, and measure the planned maintenance plan for all business-critical assets.
- Establishes corrective and emergency maintenance procedures.
- Reviews all facility maintenance contracts/agreements and ensure terms and conditions are implemented.
- Plans the need and feasibility of minor additions, modifications and alterations to existing facility and equipment. Participates in the design of such modifications to ensure modified/new equipment and installations are maintainable as per regulation
- Proactively coordinates with supervisors and heads of other departments, establishes standardized working relationship protocols.
- Prepares and manages the yearly budget for the department. Discusses the budget with supervisor, recommends and justifies any variances.
- Recommends and performs technical training to staff.
- Reviews location’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) daily, weekly and monthly, to make recommendations for improving plant operations, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and maintenance problem resolution.
- Tracks, analyzes and improves the Maintenance department’s KPIs.
- Engages employees in problem resolution to improve production issues/efficiencies utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques as needed.
- Builds long-term relationships with vendors in the industry
- Compares contractor proposals for price and specifications
- Monitors and advises on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
- Provides analysis on costs, new and existing and reviews cost reduction activities
- Any other duties within the post holder’s competence as requested.

- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, preferably Mechanical or Electrical
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. This is a hands-on role. Must be ready to work along the team.
- Hands-on electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding experience.
- Able to read electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment
- Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) experience
- Computer literate using MS Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, as well as Power Apps. SAP knowledge preferred.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus.
- Proficiency with instrument calibrations
