Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

The Facilities Engineer III is responsible for assisting in the planning of new facilities as well as installation, operation and maintenance of all facilities systems at MassBiologics. Responsible for managing assigned infrastructure and capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Responsible for the design, installation and troubleshooting of building mechanical, electrical and architectural systems
• Assist with the review of engineering, design and construction of projects. Reviews design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules
• May participate in analysis and modification project scope, budgets and schedules
• Responsible for management and tracking of outside projects and facility operations. Works with the Maintenance Manager to coordinate available personnel with current workload
• Develop and maintain various databases, architectural standards and specifications
• Synthesize interdependent elements, develops strategies, recommends alternatives, and implements action plans for routine and unanticipated projects and studies
• Recommend, develop, and implement departmental operating policies, systems and procedures
• Recommend and develop safety policies, procedures, manuals and training programs
• Prepare Standard Operating Procedures, Change Controls and Incident/Deviation Reports
• Maintain effective working relationship with associates, departmental heads, administrators, and the general staff
• Keep abreast of current trends and developments in the field
• Serve as the clerk of the works
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering
• 5 years of experience as a Facilities Engineer, including 3 years’ experience in Project Management activities
• Thorough knowledge of building design process, mechanical/electrical systems, construction methods and materials
• Ability to analyze, design, test and troubleshoot building mechanical and electrical systems, including but not limited to electrical distribution, controls, HVAC and piping
• Working knowledge of building codes/standards and environmental and safety regulations, including but not limited to National Electrical Code, Massachusetts State Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA and OSHA
• Ability to present information verbally in a clear and concise manner and to produce legible and meaningful written communications necessary to interact with Campus and contract personnel workers
• Ability to produce working drawings and maintain building drawing database using AutoCAD 14 or higher. Evidence of formal AutoCAD training is highly desirable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with the administration and programming of a computerized Building Management System is strongly preferred.
