Overview:
The Facilities Electrician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems and components within the facility. This role combines advanced electrical expertise with general maintenance skills to ensure the overall functionality and safety of the facility's infrastructure.
Responsibilities:- Perform skilled electrical maintenance and repair work, including troubleshooting, installation, and upgrades of electrical systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical and other building systems, including lighting, power distribution, and emergency systems.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment and tools.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff to coordinate repairs and ensure efficient operation of all facility systems.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, electrical codes, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and equipment inventory.
- Provide mentorship and training to less experienced maintenance staff and apprentices.
- Participate in emergency response and on-call duties as needed.
- Assist with general facility maintenance tasks, including plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry work, as required.
- Assist with event setups and tear downs.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
- Meger, volt, ohm, and amp. meters, oscilloscope. Hand tools: meters and gauges for checking circuits and electrical components, robot teach pendants, programmable controllers and other electronic diagnostic equipment
Unusual Conditions:
- May involve exposure to electrical hazards and hazardous materials.
- Standard working hours with potential for on-call responsibilities.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal electrician apprenticeship program preferred.
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license or certification as required by state or local regulations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance and facilities management.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, building codes, and safety practices.
- Proficiency in the use of electrical testing equipment and hand tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
