Jireh Semiconductor in Hillsboro, OR is looking for an experienced Chemical Engineer to join their Facilities Team. This position provides chemical project engineering and guidance to on-site maintenance, repair and testing of semiconductor chemical and gas distribution equipment.
POSITION SUMMARY
Supports the technicians in the ultrapure water, acid waste neutralization, and fluoride waste treatment areas. Participate in troubleshooting on electro-mechanical, and fluid systems while assisting continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts with the team of technicians. Provides chemical project engineering and guidance to on-site maintenance, repair and testing of semiconductor chemical and gas distribution equipment.
Assists EHS department with data collection for the preparation of environmental compliance plans, permits, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater. Monitors chemical purity and quality issues. Maintains audit ready records for ISO quality and environmental audits. Assists in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
Support new tool installation UPW, chemical & gas needs. Drive upgrade projects from concept to completion. Sponsor construction contractors for assigned projects and ensure no unplanned site interruptions occur. Work under pressure during planned Facility shut downs.
Exhibit strong teamwork. Work effectively with facilities technicians and facilities engineers to assist in safety reviews, work planning, operational support, system improvements, and task execution as required to support the factory with no unplanned interruptions. Orders and maintains spare part inventory.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Duties:
- Provide engineering support, demonstrating a deep understanding of design, for assigned systems.
- Prepare and submit written reports as required.
- Plans, justifies, and coordinates completion of upgrades and modifications to equipment
- Prepare alternative proposals, make recommendations and design system upgrades
- Audit existing chemical, gas and ultrapure water systems and insure specifications and proper operational conditions are met.
- Troubleshoot out of specification problem(s). Identify problem and implement solution.
- Review, comment and approve various engineering designs for proper function along with compliance with company policies and specifications as well as governmental requirements.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and review technical specifications and contract drawings for facility projects.
- Assist in preparation of requests for proposals for outside contractors (RFP's)
- Continuously review facility system operating conditions reviewing analytical data and/or evaluations and optimizing conditions for facility mechanical systems.
- Assist in training all facility technicians in the proper maintenance and operation of existing chemical, gas, ultrapure water and waste systems.
- Performs root cause analysis on equipment problems; maintain records and reports; assess potential failure modes and effects (FMEA); and regularly review facility system operating conditions with intention of optimization
- Monitors chemical purity
- Remain current on equipment through appropriate training, manuals, CAD drawings, and other relevant materials
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in Semiconductor or high-tech industry preferred.
- Aptitude and desire to manage complex, cross-functional, highly integrated projects
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to multi-task, be flexible, and work independently with minimal supervision. Good team player.
- Willingness and ability to follow written procedures and to adhere to safety procedures. Must have a strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
- Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
- Proficient in: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and 2D AutoCad
