Fabrication & Shop Director - Pink Monkey Studio

Job Description: The Fabrication & Shop Director will oversee staff, project builds, inventory management, source supplies, and implement workshop schedules. The Fabrication & Shop Director is expected to lead the department and plays a key part in the daily successful workflow within the shop.

This is a Full-Time position with an expected average of 40 hours of work per week. The schedule will vary and the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends are often required in this position. This position reports to the General Director, Owners and CEO and works in conjunction with the Production Director and Designer.

Compensation and Benefits: Total Annual Compensation and Benefits between $80,000 - $100,000.00

Travel: This role will travel onsite to assist in events from installation to strike. Events are frequently throughout resort towns and major cities mainly in Colorado. On location work is typically 1-3 nights. Pink Monkey covers travel to and from location, per diem and hotel accommodations. Schedules are typically provided two weeks ahead.

Skills: 2-5+ years professional experience working in Event Production, Fabrication and Shop Management. This position requires knowledge of CAD, CNC and 3D processing integration software. Both, excellent communication and personnel management skills and a high attention to detail are needed. Punctuality, reliability, organization and a strong work ethic are paramount.

Specific job responsibilities include:

Shop

• Manage and maintain shop for both fabrication and storage purposes
• Create and oversee a system for department maintenance and cleanliness
• Oversee regular service and maintenance of shop equipment
• Oversee regular maintenance of rental inventory
• Maintain inventory of frequently used shop materials
• Stay current on safety/regulatory compliance for the shop
• Stay current with changing technology, including software and job specific programs

Fabrication

• Create and oversee inventory control system for fabrication
• Identifying technical need requirements for projects in conjunction with Pink Monkey Team
• Source, order, and procure materials required for all fabrication projects
• Materials costing and job estimating in conjunction with Production Director
• Working knowledge of CAD software
• Working knowledge of CNC and 3D processing integration softwares and machinery
• Research and recommend improvements for operations and event production

Personnel Management

• Create and manage year-round schedules for multiple build and execution teams
• Manage third-party fabrication teams
• Manage shop staff and scheduling
• Managing and supporting on-site execution team
• Training and educating on-site, shop and execution staff
